IPL 2021: Punjab Kings Full Squad For 14th Edition

Punjab Kings had the highest salary cap available in IPL 2021 auction at Rs. at 53.20 crore. Punjab Kings made few big purchases in the mini-auction. Punjab Kings spent 47.90 crore out of their budget to buy nine players in their squad. Jhye Richardson was Punjab Kings’ biggest deal in the auction. The franchise spent a whopping Rs. 14 crore to buy the Australia bowler in their squad, making him the fourth-costliest cricketer to be sold in IPL 2021 auction.

Ahead of the mini-auction, Punjab Kings had 16 players in their squad. They had 9 available spots, out of which there were a maximum of 5 spots for overseas players. Punjab Kings decided to buy five overseas players in IPL auction 2021, filling all the five spots available in the foreign player’s category.

In addition to Jhye Richardson, Punjab Kings also spent Rs. 8 crore to take in Riley Meredith in their team. 24-year-old Australian pacer Riley Meredith will be making a debut in IPL 2021.

Punjab Kings franchisee, which was known as Kings XI Punjab before IPL 2021 auction, had released 9 players for this edition.  Punjab Kings parted ways with Glenn Maxwell, Sheldon Cottrell, Mujeeb Zadran, Hardus Viljoen, James Neesham, Krishnappa Gowtham, Karun Nair, Jagadeesha Suchith and Tejinder Singh Dhillon ahead of IPL 2021 auction. Punjab Kings also retained 16 players in the squad.

They are KL Rahul, Arshdeep Singh, Chris Gayle, Darshan Nalkande, Harpreet Brar, Mandeep Singh, Mayank Agarwal, Mohd. Shami, M Ashwin, Nicholas Pooran, Sarfaraz Khan, Deepak Hooda, Ishan Porel, Ravi Bishnoi, Chris Jordan, and Prabhsimran Singh.

Cricketer Shahrukh Khan, who came to the limelight in Tamil Nadu Premier League 2019, was bought by Punjab Kings in IPL 2021 auction. The franchise spent Rs. 5.25 crore to induct the Indian all-rounder in their Team. English cricketer Dawid Malan, who is currently the top-ranked T20I batsman, was Punjab Kings’ another popular purchase in IPL 2021 auction. Punjab Kings managed to seal the cricketer at his base price of Rs. 1.5 crore.
