Rajasthan Royals had Rs. 34.85 crore salary cap available during IPL auction 2021. Rajasthan Royals, who won the Indian Premier League tournament in the first edition in 2008, bought 8 players in their team during IPL 2021 auction. The franchise spent Rs. 24.20 crore during the auction to buy their respective choices of cricketers.

Rajasthan Royals spend Rs. 16.25 crore to buy Chris Morris, making the South African all-rounder the biggest-ever buy in IPL auction’s history. Shivam Dubey was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs. 4.4 crore. Rajasthan Royals, who finished at the last spot in IPL 2020, went ahead with buying Mustafizur Rahman for Rs. 1 crore. Chetan Sakariya was bought for Rs. 1.2 crore during the auction. K.C Cariappa, Akash Singh and Kuldip Yadav were also bought at their base price of Rs. 20 lakh.

Ahead of the auctions, Rajasthan Royals had released eight players from their squad namely Steve Smith, Akash Singh, Anirudha Joshi, Ankit Rajpoot, Oshane Thomas, Shashank Singh, Tom Curran and Varun Aaron. Steve Smith, who was once Rajasthan Royals’ skipper, witnessed his ouster from the team ahead of IPL 2021 auction. Smith was picked up by Delhi Capitals for Rs. 2.2 crore.

The franchisee also retained 17 players for IPL 2021. Sanju Samson, Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, Jos Buttler, Mahipal Lomror, Manan Vohra, Mayank Markande, Rahul Tewatia, Riyan Parag, Shreyas Gopal, Robin Uthappa, Jaydev Unadkat, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Anuj Rawat, Kartik Tyagi, David Miller and Andrew Tye are the 17 players which Rajasthan Royals retained in IPL 2021. Rajasthan Royals has some big names in their squad and they will be eyeing to showcase a much better performance in the forthcoming IPL 2021 edition.
