Australia National Cricket Team players might miss the first 4-5 games of the marquee Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 due to the Pakistan tour, claim reports.
On Friday, Cricket Australia (CA) confirmed that Australia will be touring Pakistan as per schedule after 24 long years. The tour consists of a three-match Test series, which will be played from March 4 to 25, a three-match One Day International series, which will be played from March 29 to April 2, and a sole T20 International match, which will be played on April 5.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 is scheduled to begin in the last week of March and at that time the Australian players will be engaged in national duties in Pakistan, which rules them out of the first few IPL games. According to a report in Cricbuzz, the visiting players have to stay in isolation for 5 days.
I think we’ll get close to a full-strength squad – Pat Cummins on the Australian squad for the Pakistan tour
CA has not made the squad announcement yet however, a strong team is expected to tour Pakistan. Red-ball captain Pat Cummins has said that he will get close to a full-strength team.
“I think we’ll get close to a full-strength squad. There is still a little bit of work to do. We have received a lot of information and it has been great. All the pre-tour security and biosecurity work has been done and it’s been fantastic,” Australia Test skipper Pat Cummins said recently.
“There are a couple of players still keen to get a bit more information but everyone is really pumped and feeling relatively comfortable. If anyone doesn’t make the tour it is absolutely okay, we will back them for sure.”
Meanwhile, the Indian Premier League 2022 mega auction is all set to take place on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru and 47 Aussie players will go under the hammer. All the teams would be looking forward to including players like David Warner, Steve Smith, Josh Hazlewood, Aaron Finch and Pat Cummins in their squad.
