IPL 2022 Mega Auction: 3 Players SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) Can Retain. Sunrisers Hyderabad endured their worst season in IPL 2021, having finished at the bottom of the points table. SRH only managed to secure three wins out of 14 matches, claiming only 6 points. Over the years, David Warner’s form and the top order’s significant contribution with the bat have been the major reason behind SRH’s success in the tournament.

However, things didn’t turn out well this year. Warner underwent a horrendous season with the bat, having managed only 185 runs in 8 matches at an average of close to 25. The likes of Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav and Vijay Shankar didn’t impress either as Sunrisers Hyderabad succumbed to low totals on most of the occasions.

The bowling unit too didn’t impress either. Barring Rashid Khan and Jason Holder, none of them bowlers made great returns. Ahead of the mega auction next year, Sunrisers Hyderabad would be looking to make some solid inclusions. However, for now, all their focus would be on the players they should retain.

On that note, we predicted three players that Sunrisers Hyderabad can retain for IPL 2021 auction.

There is no denying that David Warner has been a star player for Sunrisers Hyderabad for a number of years. He has been a consistent batter for the franchise and even led the side to a title win in IPL 2016.

For consecutive seasons, he led the run-charts for SRH in IPL. However, the southpaw failed to replicate those performances in IPL 2021. In 8 matches, he scored 195 runs at an average of 24.37. Because of his underwhelming performances, he was even dropped from the side and relieved of captaincy duties.

Having said that, the franchise would look to retain him keeping in mind his invaluable contribution for a number of years. There is no question about his potential as a T20 batsman and one can expect him to make a stellar comeback next year.
