The Indian Premier League (IPL) has witnessed its fair share of dominance with the willow over the years. The batters like Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Rohit Sharma showcased their prowess through thick and thin.

However, it has also witnessed bowlers making their presence felt. The likes of Lasith Malinga, Dale Steyn, Amit Mishra, etc. have also displayed their ability to deliver jaw-dropping performances.

Franchises which may seem the most well-backed in all departments, have also had their fair share of tragedy with the willow as the batters walked back tamely to the pavilion. Without much ado, here’s a look at franchises that have been dismissed below 100 the most number of times.

Punjab Kings who were formerly known as Kings XI Punjab round off the list for top five franchises getting bowled out below 100. They have recorded the unique distinction thrice. This will certainly be a source of happiness for the fans who may well have expected something way worse, considering their poor record in the IPL.

Punjab Kings are hailed as the underachievers in the Indian Premier League. Their performances, over the years, haven’t inspired a lot of confidence. However, the franchise has managed to compile a pretty good squad ahead of the 2022 edition of the IPL. It will be interesting to see how they fare this time around.

Squad for IPL 2022:

Shikhar Dhawan, Mayank Agarwal, Arshdeep Singh, Kagiso Rabada, Jonny Bairstow, Rahul Chahar, Harpreet Brar, Shahrukh Khan, Prabhsimran Singh, Jitesh Sharma, Ishan Porel, Liam Livingstone, Odeon Smith, Sandeep Sharma, Raj Angad Bawa, Rishi Dhawan, Prerak Mankad, Vaibhav Arora, Writtick Chatterjee, Baltej Dhanda, Ansh Patel, Nathan Ellis, Atharva Taide, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Benny Howell.

The Sanju Samson-led team was the first side to win the IPL, having done so under Shane Warne’s leadership. However, the franchise remained consistently at the bottom half of the table in most of the editions they have played thereafter. Rajasthan Royals couldn’t win any title after their the win in 2008. Rajasthan Royals have been bowled out below 100 on five occasions, which makes them sit at number four position in the list.

Mumbai Indians are the most successful team in the history of the Indian Premier League. They have managed to win the IPL title on 5 occasions. All of them have come under the leadership of Rohit Sharma.

Over the years, the team has produced some unbelievable performances and snatched the game out of the jaws of defeat. That makes it all the more surprising to see them perched on the third spot in the list, having been bowled out below 100 on five occasions.

Squad for IPL 2022: Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Ishan Kishan, Dewald Brevis, Basil Thampi, M Ashwin, Jaydev Unadkat, Mayank Markande, Tilak Varma, Sanjay Yadav, Riley Meredith, Mohd Arshad Khan, Anmolpreet Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Rahul Buddhi, Hrithik Shokeen, Arjun Tendulkar, Aryan Juyal, Fabian Allen.

The franchise is hailed by one and all for its ability to get the crowd on its feet, with sublime performances through thick and thin. However, despite enjoying the presence of powerful performers like Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, RCB have been knocked out below 100 on six occasions which are the second most for any franchise.

Much like Delhi Capitals, RCB too have fared pretty well in the last two editions. They reached the playoffs for two consecutive editions but, unfortunately, couldn’t win the title. Kolkata Knight Riders knocked them out of the tournament after eliminating them in the Eliminator match.

Squad for IPL 2022: Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, Mohammed Siraj, Faf du Plessis, Dinesh Karthik, Anuj Rawat, Finn Allen, Akash Deep, Josh Hazlewood, Jason Behrendorff, Chama Milind, Karn Sharma, Harshal Patel, Wanindu Hasaranga, Shahbaz Ahmed, Mahipal Lomror, Sherfane Rutherford, Suyash Prabhudesai, Aneeshwar Gautam, David Willey, Luvnith Sisodia, Siddharth Kaul.

The franchise which was formerly known as Delhi Daredevils and currently led by Rishabh Pant definitely looks extremely strong on paper, but the past certainly holds its own share of painful reminders for the fans.

The highlight of one of those nights would be the encounter against Mumbai Indians back in 2017, when they were knocked out for 66, having been handed a target of 213 runs to chase. Delhi Capitals have been knocked out for below 100 on 10 occasions, which is the most for any franchise.

Despite boasting of world-class players, Delhi hasn’t won a single title in the history of IPL. They, however, have performed exceedingly well in the last few years. Delhi Capitals reached the finals in 2020 but, unfortunately, lost in the summit clash against MI.

Squad for IPL 2022: Prithvi Shaw, Anrich Nortje, Rishabh Pant (c), Axar Patel, David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Shardul Thakur, Mustafizur Rahman, Kuldeep Yadav, Ashwin Hebbar, Sarfaraz Khan, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, KS Bharat, Mandeep Singh, Khaleel Ahmed, Chetan Sakariya, Lalit Yadav, Ripal Patel, Yash Dhull, Rovman Powell, Pravin Dubey, Lungi Ngidi, Tim Seifert, Vicky Ostwal.
