Chennai Super Kings, the defending champions of IPL 2024, will eye to extend their winning record in IPL 2024. CSK won the IPL 2023 trophy last season after crushing Gujarat Titans in the final. MS Dhoni has been retained by CSK for IPL 2024 and will lead the team in yet another season. He has led the team since the debut edition in 2008. During the recent retentions ahead of IPL 2024 auction, CSK retained 19 players in their squad and released 8 players.

Among the released players, Ambati Rayudu, Ben Stokes, and Dwaine Pretorius were some crucial names. CSK also parted ways with Kyle Jamieson, who became a part of the team in the last season but could not participate in the tournament due to injury.

CSK has backed most of their key players including the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Deepak Chahar, Moeen Ali among others. With batters like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, MS Dhoni, and Shivam Dube, CSK has a powerful setup in the batting department.

In bowling, players like Deepak Chahar, Maheesh Theekshana, Matheesha Pathirana, and Mukesh Choudhary are some key names. Among all-rounders, Ravindra Jadeja, Mitchell Santner, and Moeen Ali add strength to the team.

After looking at the CSK squad, it feels like they need to grab some pacers in their squad. They have 6 more available slots with 3 overseas players. The men-in-yellow have Rs. 31.40 crores left in the salary cap. CSK is likely to target experienced overseas or domestic pacers during the auction.

CSK Released Players

CSK has released 8 players from their squad ahead of IPL 2024 auction. Ambati Rayudu has retired from all forms of cricket. Ben Stokes made himself unavailable for IPL 2024. CSK has not made any trade so far. However, they are allowed to make a trade before December 12.

CSK Captain and Vice-captain

The good news for many CSK fans is that MS Dhoni will lead the team in IPL 2024 as well. There have been talks of MS Dhoni’s retirement from the last few seasons. However, there is time for that. Ravindra Jadeja is the vice-captain of CSK.
