Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are expected to release multiple players from their squad ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 mini-auction. The five-time champions might enter the upcoming auction with a whopping total in their purse to make strategic purchases.

Chennai Super Kings To Release Multiple Players – Reports

Chennai Super Kings are set to exclude notable players such as Ben Stokes, who has made himself unavailable, and Ambati Rayudu, who retired from all formats of cricket in India. The franchise bought Stokes for Rs 16.25 crore, while Rayudu was acquired for Rs 6.75 crore.

According to Cricbuzz, the Chennai-based franchise will also release players including Bhagath Varma, Subhranshu Senapati, Sisanda Magala, and Kyle Jamieson. The MS Dhoni-led team is making strategic decisions to reshape its lineup for the upcoming season.

Thank You CSK – Dwaine Pretorius

South African all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius bid farewell to the Chennai Super Kings ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, expressing gratitude in a heartfelt note. The CSK franchise decided to release Dwaine Pretorius after two seasons of association in the world’s richest league.

The franchise picked Pretorius up at a base price of 50 lakhs during the IPL 2022 mega auction. Pretorius played seven games in the last two seasons, contributing 44 runs and six wickets. The all-rounder described his time with the CSK team as an “awesome experience”.

“Thank you, CSK. I would like to thank all the management, coaches, players, and fans for my time at CSK. It was an awesome experience. All the best for season 2024,” Pretorius mentioned in the image.

It remains uncertain whether CSK will release Stokes from their roster before the retention deadline. CSK will evaluate several seam-bowling all-round options, including Pat Cummins, Gerald Coetzee, and Azmatullah Omarzai, to fill Stokes’ spot in the squad.
