The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly considering hosting the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction in Dubai later this year. According to Cricbuzz, the mini-auction for the marquee tournament is expected to take place between December 15 and 19.

The second Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction is also scheduled for December, with India as the likely host. The auction for the Women’s tournament will take place on December 9. The venue for the WPL 2024 auction has not yet been officially confirmed by the BCCI.

IPL 2024 Auction To Take Place In Dubai – Reports

According to the Cricbuzz recent report, the franchises have not yet received an official notification from the board regarding the venue for the auction. Discussions suggest that Dubai has emerged as the top contender to host the auction of the world’s richest league.

The BCCI considered Istanbul as a potential venue for last year’s auction, but it was held in India. The IPL 2023 mini-auction took place at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Kochi on December 23. The Dubai plan may still be provisional, and the venue of the event can be altered.

Trade Window Is Open For Franchises For Player Exchanges

Despite the open trading window, IPL franchises have not engaged in player exchanges yet. The uncertainty prevails as the three-year window closure nears, with potential releases of high-salaried players who had a limited impact with their performances in the last season.

The BCCI has not yet informed team owners about the venue, whether it will be in a single city like last year or across multiple locations. The WPL might be scheduled for February 2024 due to the Indian women’s team’s international commitments until mid-January.
