IPL 2024: Lucknow Super Giants Rope In Sridharan Sriram As New Assistant Coach

Lucknow Super Giants have roped in former India cricketer Sridharan Sriram as their assistant coach ahead of the next season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Before IPL 2024, the Lucknow-based outfit has made significant changes to its backroom staff.
Despite making it to the playoffs in the first two seasons of IPL, Lucknow Super Giants parted ways with head coach Andy Flower who was later roped in by Royal Challengers Bangalore. After sacking Flower, Lucknow Super Giants signed up former Australia opener and head coach Justin Langer as their new head coach.
And in the latest addition to its backroom staff, the IPL franchise has signed up Sridharan Sriram who has also served as a spin bowling consultant for Australia in the past. The former cricketer has joined the Lucknow franchise as the assistant coach for IPL 2023, the franchise announced on Friday (September 8).

Lucknow Super Giants have assembled a stellar backroom staff ahead of IPL 2024 as they eye their maiden IPL trophy. While Langer and Sriram will be the coach and the assistant coach respectively, Indian cricket stalwart Gautam Gambhir is also a part of the staff as a mentor. L
Apart from the trio, Vijay Dahiya, Pravin Tambe and the South African duo of Morne Morkel and Jonty Rhodes are also the assistant coaches of the team. Last month, they had also roped in former India wicketkeeper and chief selector MSK Prasad as a consultant.
Talking about Sriram, he has ample experience of coaching high profile teams. Apart from working with Australia, Sriram has also worked with Bangladesh’s T20 team. He was a part of Australia’s backroom staff when they won the T20 World Cup in 2021. Sriram is also not new to coaching in the IPL. In the past, he has worked as an assistant coach for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
