Jasprit Bumrah will be the key pacer for India in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and India will not want him to miss another ICC event due to injuries. Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria reckons India should manage the workload of their main bowler in the coming months with another ICC mega event approaching. Jasprit Bumrah will be featuring in the IPL 2024 playing for Mumbai Indians.

Jasprit Bumrah has been one of the most injury-prone players for India and for that matter, Danish Kaneria wants Mumbai Indians (MI) to rest Bumrah for a few games so that the Indian spearhead is not injured ahead of the T20 megaevent scheduled in June 2024.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Kaneria said, “India needs to use Jasprit Bumrah with utmost care to ensure he has a long career, as he is prone to injuries. Especially Mumbai Indians need to understand that and make him play fewer matches in the IPL. The fatigue from playing in the IPL will hurt Bumrah and India very badly. He is an asset for Team India and is a generational talent.”

Jasprit Bumrah returned to action in August last year after a long halt due to a back injury that forced him out of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, IPL 2023, and the WTC finals. The speedster remained on the sidelines for almost a year after suffering a back injury. However, he returned to international cricket with a sensational comeback and has been in great form since his return. He had a terrific World Cup 2023 campaign and was also the leading wicket-taker in the recently concluded Test series against South Africa.

Jasprit Bumrah was one of the key factors in India’s historic seven-wicket victory in Cape Town against South Africa. Jasprit Bumrah picked up a figure of 6/61 in South Africa’s second innings, helping the Indian team bundle out the opposition for 176. India chased the 79-run target in just 12 overs to win their first Test in Cape Town by seven wickets.

Praising Bumrah for his performance against South Africa, Danish Kaneria said, “Bumrah delivered superbly. He has done that with great consistency across formats. He is one of the best bowlers of this generation. Whenever Rohit Sharma wants to win games, Bumrah is his go-to guy.”
Jasprit Bumrah was declared the Player of The Series alongside Dean Elgar for his terrific performance with the ball. He took 12 wickets in just three innings at an average of 12.92 with a six-wicket haul and a four-wicket haul to his name in the series. He will be India’s biggest weapon in the upcoming T20 World Cup and the team management should make sure that he does not get injured ahead of the tournament.
India will play a five-match Test series against England in January and Jasprit Bumrah could be rested for a few matches in the series given India will not require the services of their prime pacer on rank turners where the spinners are likely to do the job. The first Test will commence on January 25 in Hyderabad.
