Rajasthan Royals will aim for backup in IPL 2024 and seek to grab their second IPL trophy. Rajasthan Royals won the title in the debut edition in 2008, however, failed to grab the champions crown for the second time.

In IPL 2022, Rajasthan Royals reached the finals post a major reshuffle in their squad due to the mega auction. However, they failed to win the ultimate battle against Gujarat Titans and had to settle with the tag of runners-up.

Ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, Rajasthan Royals has released 9 players from their squad. However, except for Jason Holder, there are no popular players whom the franchise has dropped.

Among the retained players, Rajasthan Royals has stuck with all big names like Jos Buttler, Ravichandran Ashwin, Shimron Hetmyer, Trent Boult, Yashaswi Jaiswal, Yuzvendra Chahal, Prasidh Krishna, and Adam Zampa among others.

RR have also traded one player. RR has sent Devdutt Padikkal to Lucknow Super Giants. In exchange, they have bought Avesh Khan from the side. Currently, RR has 17 players in their squad. They can pick 8 more players during the auction. Since they already have 5 foreign players, they can only pick 3 more overseas players in their squad.

Rajasthan Royals has released 9 players from their squad. However, none of them is a key member of the side. Jason Holder is one big name who has been released from the team.
