Ahead of IPL 2024, a mini-auction took place last month where all 10 IPL teams bought a total of 72 players into their squad. All the teams have formed their squads for IPL 2024, which will kickstart possibly in the third or last week of March 2024.

IPL is one such tournament where batters and bowlers have dominated the field on various occasions over the years. Spinners and pacers have both excelled in IPL tournaments and won purple caps. Ahead of IPL 2024, we glance at team-wise wise highest wicket taker of all 10 teams in IPL history.

Chennai Super Kings- Dwayne Bravo

Dwayne Bravo, the bowling coach of CSK, is also the highest wicket-taker for the team. The former West Indies pacer hunted 140 wickets across 116 games for Chennai Super Kings. He played for the franchise since IPL 2011. The former all-rounder retired from IPL after the 2022 season. Bravo held an economy of just 8.36 for CSK over the years.

Delhi Capitals- Amit Mishra

For Delhi Capitals, Amit Mishra stands as the top wicket-taker for the side in IPL history. Mishra, who was part of DC from 2008 to 2021 seasons, accounts for 106 wickets in 99 encounters. He also bowled at a fabulous economy of just 7.35. The right-arm spinner is part of LSG in IPL 2024.

Gujarat Titans- Mohammed Shami

After two seasons, Mohammed Shami is the highest run-getter for Gujarat Titans in IPL. Last season, Shami also won the purple cap. The right-arm pacer has clinched 48 scalps across 33 games for GT averaging 21.04 with an economy of 8.01. Shami will again play for the side in IPL 2024.

Punjab Kings- Piyush Chawla

Leg spinner Piyush Chawla has taken the most wickets for Punjab Kings in IPL history. The right-arm spinner played 87 games for the team from 2008 to 2013. He bagged 84 wickets at an average of 26.63. Chawla, now part of Mumbai Indians, also held a decent economy of 7.52 during his tenure with PBKS.

Lucknow Super Giants- Ravi Bishnoi

Ravi Bishnoi, who is the man behind LSG’s superb spin attack, is the leading wicket-taker for the team after two seasons. The right-arm spinner has hunted 29 wickets in 29 matches for the side, bowling at an average of 29.20. The leg spinner holds an economy of 8.10. Ravi Bishnoi will again play for LSG in IPL 2024.

Mumbai Indians- Lasith Malinga

Former Mumbai Indians pacer Lasith Malinga is the highest wicket-taker for MI in IPL history. Malinga played 122 games for MI from IPL 2009 to 2019. He grabbed 170 scalps averaging 19.79. The right-arm pacer also bowled at a wonderful economy of 7.14.

Rajasthan Royals- Siddharth Trivedi

Royal Challengers Bangalore- Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal is not part of Royal Challengers Bangalore anymore. However, he is still the highest wicket-taker for the team in IPL history. Playing 113 games for RCB from 2014 to 2021 seasons, the right-arm spinner bagged 139 wickets at 7.58 economy. Chahal is part of Rajasthan Rotals in IPL 2024.

Sunrisers Hyderabad- Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the top wicket-taker for Sunrisers Hyderabad with 146 scalps across 129 matches. The right-arm seamer has been part of the team since the 2014 edition. Bhuvneshwar Kumar holds an economy of 7.53 and an average of 25+ for SRH. He has been retained by the side for IPL 2024.
