Young Indian cricketer Arshin Kulkarni, who has been selected for the U19 World Cup 2024 recently met former South African cricketer Jacques Kallis in South Africa.

Kulkarni uploaded the glimpses of the meeting on his official Instagram handle. Kulkarni will be playing for the Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League 2024.

Captioning the post, ‘the best day of my life’, Arshin Kulkarni stated that Jacques Kallis has been the person that he had been looking up to as an idol and a perfect cricketer for the last 12 years. Arshin Kulkarni wrote in his caption, “ The best day of my life “, For the past 12 years you have been the person i looked upon as a perfect cricketer and as a role model, Today was the day when i finally met you every time my parents asked me about my favourite destination, I would say south africa in a hope that i would finally get to meet him i have always been your admirer and you have always been my inspiration ALWAYS AND FOREVER SIR.”

Arshin Kulkarni has played a total of five Youth ODIs for India and has scored 206 runs at an average of 51.50. He has scored a total of two half-centuries and his highest score has been 91 runs. The U19 World Cup is all set to start from January 19 and India will aim to defend their title.

Belonging to the small town of Solapur in Maharashtra, Arshin Kulkarni plays as an opening batsman for his state. Kulkarni has been playing for Maharastra since his U14 days and was picked for Cadence Cricket Academy in 2016-17. Since his U14 days, he has stayed with his maternal grandmother in a rented house.

However, Arshin Kulkarni has achieved immense success from July 2022. Kulkarni showcased some brilliant performances in the Maharashtra Premier League and went to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and was also among the probable for the U19 World Cup.

Arshin Kulkarni made his debut for Maharashtra in the Syed Mushtaq Ali 2023 and scored 122 runs at a strike rate of 163.51. Maharashtra were not able to make it through to the knockouts of the tournament, however, later Kulkarni showcased his power in the ODIs and helped Maharashtra win the Vinoo Mankad Trophy.

Arshin Kulkarni played brilliant knocks against Uttar Pradesh in the semi-final and slammed a ton against Mumbai in the final. Kulkarni had already given evidence of the brilliant talent that he has for India.

Witnessing Arshin Kulkarni’s talent, Lucknow Super Giants picked up Arshin Kulkarni for a base price of INR 20 lakh in the IPL 2024 auction. Apart from being a talented batsman Kulkarni can also bowl a few overs and is a decent pace bowler.

Arshin Kulkarni will be one of the most promising players to watch out for in the U19 World Cup 2024, and his talent will surely help India defend their title. India’s first match of the tournament is against Bangladesh on January 20 at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein.
