MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina are the best of mates and also have spent a lot of time together in the Indian cricket team dressing room. Raina and Dhoni played for the Chennai Super Kings together in the Indian Premier League and also said goodbye to international cricket on the same date, which was August 15, 2020.

MS Dhoni has always been away from the media from the start of his career, however, he was reported to have dated Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone. Amidst all the dating rumors, MSD tied the knot with Sakshi Singh Rawat, who was from Dehradun and was a hotel management student in Aurangabad.

While MS Dhoni tied the knot with Sakshi in a private ceremony, Suresh Raina was also one of the esteemed guests who were present at Dhoni’s wedding. During a recent interview, Raina revealed how the former Indian captain invited him to his wedding.

Suresh Raina said that he received a call from MS Dhoni wherein he asked him where was he. Raina replied that he was in Lucknow at the time of MSD’s wedding. Dhoni later revealed that he was getting married and Raina had to come to Dehradun to attend his wedding. Dhoni also urged Raina to come quietly and not tell anyone about his wedding.

Suresh Raina said, (“Unhone mujhe phone kiya aur poocha, ‘kahan hai?’. Maine bola main toh Lucknow mein hu. Phir vo bole ‘meri shaadi ho rahi hai Dehradun mein, aaja aur kisi ko bolna nahi. Wait kar rha hu tera.’ To main normal kapdon mein gaya tha phir main unki shaadi mein tha, unhi ke kapdon mein”), which meant, “He called me and said where are you? I said I was in Lucknow. He said – ‘I am getting married, come to Dehradun. Come silently, and don’t tell anyone, I will be waiting here.’ I then went there in a hurry and wore his clothes at his wedding.”

MS Dhoni tied the knot with Sakshi just ahead of the 2011 ODI World Cup and later he won the tournament for the country after 28 years.

Suresh Raina was the first Indian batsman to hit hundreds in all three formats in international cricket whereas he also had a splendid career for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. Raina was also known by the name of ‘Mr IPL’ and has scored 5528 runs from 205 matches at a strike rate of 136.76. Suresh Raina has also hit 39 half-centuries followed by one hundred.

Suresh Raina retired from the Indian Premier League in 2021 and now is seen in the commentary box and giving expert advice. Raina recently featured in the Legend’s League Cricket and is always seen spending quality time with his family. Raina shared glimpses of the same on his social media handles.
