Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra made a bold prediction ahead of the auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He believes that Rohit Sharma might not play for the Mumbai Indians in 2025 and also gave his take on the rumors surrounding Rishabh Pant moving to Chennai Super Kings.

The mega auction for the Indian Premier League is around the corner, and it's fair to say that some of the massive moves will be on the cards. One of the things that is in the mind of many is whether Rohit Sharma will continue playing for five-time champions Mumbai Indians in the league or not.

This is because there have been various reports that have suggested that Rohit Sharma will be moving to the auction. He was removed as the captain of the team as they appointed Hardik Pandya as the leader, and this reportedly didn't go well with the India captain, who guided the team to the five titles in the league.

There have been reports that Rohit Sharma has already been approached by some other franchises and he might be moving to auction. So far, there hasn't been any clarity, but it won't be a surprise if the move happens and he comes to the auction table.

Aakash Chopra talked about the move of Rohit Sharma to another team. He said that the batter might not be there with Mumbai Indians. While explaining about the same, he explained the franchise made Hardik Pandya captain while looking at the future, which they might look at in this auction. While speaking on the 2 Sloggers YouTube channel, he explained:

"I don't have any personal information. I'm not privy to what's going to happen. Rohit is no longer the captain of Mumbai Indians. He might not be at Mumbai Indians is what I feel. I mean, he may choose to be there. He's not the captain. I mean, indeed, he's not the captain. And if Hardik was made the captain, they did it with a lot of thought. And for that, you might get trolled or criticized." said Aakash Chopra.

"But the thinking is not wrong. Because it couldn't have been done in this auction. So this had to be in the previous one. So that decision was made. You've brought him in. You've made him the captain. The season hasn't been good.

"It's not like if Rohit was the captain, the season would have always been good. It's not like that either. They finished number 8 as well. So, I feel that Rohit might not be at Mumbai Indians this year. It's just my understanding. Otherwise, if he plays, I don't mind," Aakash Chopra stated.

He also opined that Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav will stay at the franchise.

Logic doesn't say that he should leave Delhi - Aakash Chopra on Rishabh Pant leaving Delhi Capitals

Aakash Chopra also talked about speculations of Rishabh Pant moving to Chennai Super Kings. He said that logic doesn't say he should move and stressed that the 'yellow army' always backs their players, highlighting that they will back Ruturaj Gaikwad.

"Again... Speculation, what to comment on, to be honest. No news has come yet, why will he leave Delhi? Logic doesn't say that he should leave Delhi. And there is no record of Chennai that they are not very trigger-happy people. If they have made Ruturaj the captain, then they won't let him go just like that. They are not that kind." said Aakash Chopra.

"Yes, he has done well. He has made runs too. He has made runs, he has done well. He used to lose only tosses, now there is a guarantee of tosses. Even Rishabh loses. So, I don't think that... I mean... He might leave, for all we know. Who knows. See, ultimately, what the player wants is very important in this auction," Aakash Chopra concluded.
