Legendary South Africa fast bowler Dale Steyn has decided to leave Sunrisers Hyderabad as the bowling coach of the team. It means that Steyn won't be available for the franchise from the IPL 2025 season.
Steyn joined Sunrisers Hyderabad in the latter part of 2021. He started his role in the IPL 2022 season. The former South African quick started his role when Tom Moody was the head coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Brian Lara took over the coaching role from Moody in 2023 but was removed for the next year. Former New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori became the franchise's third head coach in three seasons.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape record in SA20
Sunrisers Eastern Cape is the most successful franchise in the history of SA20. They have won both the seasons of the tournament played so far, in 2023 and 2024, under the leadership of Aiden Markram.
Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad had a good season in IPL 2024 as they finished runners-up after losing to Kolkata Knight Riders in the final. They were performing poorly in the last few seasons but were exceptional in the last season under Pat Cummins as the captain.
Dale Steyn in IPL 2024
However, Dale Steyn wasn't a part of the team in IPL 2024 after having opted out due to personal reasons. In his absence, SRH brought in James Franklin for the role of interim bowling coach. It is expected that Franklin might get an extension in this role after Steyn's departure.
Dale Steyn has not only been associated with the IPL in the coaching staff. He has played for various franchises previously as well. The 41-year-old has played for Deccan Chargers, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gujarat Lions, and Sunrisers Hyderabad. His last IPL game was for RCB in 2020.
