IPL 2025: Chennai Super Kings issue an official statement after Dwayne Bravo joins Kolkata Knight Riders as mentor

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) shared a message for former West Indian captain Dwayne Bravo, who is parting ways with the franchise. The Chennai Super Kings shared a video on their official Instagram account, adding that they cherished the golden moments with the champion, Dwayne Bravo.

On Friday, September 27, Dwayne Bravo signed with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as a mentor for the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season. Bravo will take over the charge from Gautam Gambhir, who parted ways with the franchise to become head coach of the India national cricket team.

Bravo previously worked as the bowling coach for the Chennai Super Kings in the last two IPL seasons. He has a strong connection with the team, having played for CSK from 2011 to 2022. The veteran all-rounder was part of multiple title victories during his time with the Chennai-based franchise.

After parting ways with Bravo ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auctions, the Chennai Super Kings shared a special message. The video showcases special moments of Dwayne Bravo donning the yellow jersey in the IPL.

"Cherishing the golden moments with the champion!💛" wrote the caption.

Bravo also played for the Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Lions in the Indian Premier League. He won two T20 World Cups with the West Indies in 2012 and 2016. Recently, he worked with the Afghanistan team during the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, where the team reached the semifinals for the first time.

Dwayne is the third-leading wicket-taker in the history of the IPL, with 183 wickets in 161 matches. He will also oversee other franchises under the Knight Riders brand in T20 leagues around the world, including Trinbago Knight Riders, Los Angeles Knight Riders, and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders.

In a viral video, Dwayne Bravo expressed gratitude to the CSK management for supporting his decision to take on a new role as a mentor with the Kolkata Knight Riders. Bravo asked fans for their continued blessings and support despite the bittersweet nature of his departure.

"Vanakkam, this is a champion. It's not a secret now the news is out that I have accepted the deal to be the mentor of the Knight Riders franchise. Just want to take this time to give a special mention and a special thank you to the CSK management team for giving me their blessings to move on to do something that I am really passionate about," Bravo said.

"My fans in Chennai and to all the CSK fans around the world, I call on you to give me your blessings and support as you always do. I know this is a sad moment for you guys, but it is one that I encourage you to continue to support me in everything that I do. Lot's of love, yellove, all the time. See you guys soon. See you on the other side," he added.
