Team India wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant's cryptic post on a social media account has left the Delhi Capitals (DC) owners confused about his intentions.
Rishabh Pant's post came just weeks after one of the franchise's owners confirmed his retention for the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season.
The IPL 2025 mega auction is expected to take place later this year, and all 10 teams are looking to rebuild their sides before next year's T20 tournament.
Star Indian cricketers are likely to be available during the auction. KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma could leave their teams and put their names in the auction.
Will I Be Sold Or Not And For How Much - Rishabh Pant
On October 12, Pant questioned whether he would be sold in the upcoming mega auction for the Indian Premier League 2025. He asked fans to guess the price he would be sold for at the event. Pant's post quickly went viral and left the Delhi Capitals' owners confused before the mega auction.
"If go to the auction. will I be sold or not and for how much ??" Pant wrote on the microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter).

We're Not Sure Why He Did It - Delhi Capitals
As per a report by Cricbuzz, Rishabh Pant's cryptic message came shortly after a meeting with co-owner Kiran Kumar Grandhi in Dubai. The meeting took place following India's victory over Bangladesh in the Kanpur Test. Pant shared details about his retention with the franchise and their future plans.
The report added that Rishabh and DC reached an agreement during a meeting regarding his retention, support staff, and auction strategy. However, Pant's social media post has left the franchise owners confused. The report stated that the ownership group is unsure about why Pant made the post.
"We've seen it, and we're not sure why he did it (the post on X)," a source close to the DC ownership group was quoted saying by Cricbuzz.
Pant Will Definitely Be Retained - Parth Jindal
Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal recently confirmed that the franchise would retain Rishabh Pant for the IPL 2025 season. Speaking to IANS, Jindal said that retention decisions would be made after discussions with GMR and the team's director of cricket, Sourav Ganguly.
"Yes, we definitely have to retain. We have some very good players in our team. The rules have just come out, so after discussing with GMR and our director of cricket, Sourav Ganguly, decisions will be made. Rishabh Pant will definitely be retained," Parth Jindal said.
Rishabh has been with DC since his IPL debut in 2016. He became the team's captain in 2021. His recent tweet may be tongue-in-cheek, as he is a crucial player for the franchise. Pant made a strong return in IPL 2024 after recovering from multiple injuries sustained in a car crash in December 2022.
