"If you look at Gujarat Titans' thinking, we always look for experienced players and Mohammed Siraj gets along really well with all of us. We were actually thinking that RCB might use RTM but they didn't. So, we are quite happy to have Siraj with us," Patel said.
Parthiv Patel also spoke about the situation at the auction room and claimed that things can get tense at times but the teams need to prepare and plan well in order to execute things at the auction.
"Sometimes, it can get tense. You have to take a call right there. But if you're well-planned and well-prepared, it can go your way," he added.
Mohammed Siraj played for seven seasons for the RCB and was clearly emotional when he penned down a goodbye note from the franchise. During this period, he went on to become an established international cricketer and a match-winner for his team.
Mohammed Siraj's IPL numbers
Siraj has played 93 matches in the IPL and picked up 93 wickets at an average of 30.35 and an economy rate of 8.65. The fast bowler is a genuine wicket-taker with the new ball and has improved his skills with the old ball as well.
Mohammed Siraj will now be expected to lead the bowling attack of Gujarat Titans. The 30-year-old has experienced fast bowlers like Ishant Sharma and Kagiso Rabada and young quicks like Prasidh Krishna and Gerald Coetzee with him.
Shubman Gill to lead Gujarat Titans
Shubman Gill will lead the team with key players like Rashid Khan, Jos Buttler, and Sai Sudharsan further strengthening the team's squad.
Gujarat Titans won their inaugural IPL edition in 2022 and even reached the final in 2023, before losing out to Chennai Super Kings. The 2022 champions will be aiming to keep aside the failure of last season and start this season afresh.
