Every IPL team has started preparing for the upcoming season of IPL. With the Champions Trophy over, the players have started to join their respective franchises and the teams will have a full squad available soon.
Rahul Dravid played with his son
Rahul Dravid was seen playing competitive cricket a few days ago when he appeared for Vijaya Cricket Club in the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) Group III League semi-final. Interestingly, Dravid was seen playing with his 16-year-old son Anvay in the same team.
Rahul Dravid scored 29 off 28 balls and even stitched a partnership of 43 runs for the fourth wicket with his son Anvay. Before this match, Anvay had scored a fine 58 off 60 balls to grab the headlines.
Dravid joined Rajasthan Royals as the head coach after his tenure for the same role with Team India got over after the Men in Blue's triumphant T20 World Cup 2024 campaign. He has already played for the franchise from 2011 to 2015.
Dravid will work closely with RR's Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara and captain Sanju Samson. Rajasthan Royals last won the IPL way back in the inaugural edition in 2008. Since then, they haven't been able to lay their hands on the trophy again.
Rajasthan Royals' first match of IPL 2025
Rajasthan Royals will begin their IPL 2025 campaign against last year's runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 23. It will be a day-match and will be played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
Rajasthan Royals finished third in the points table last year. They had a decent campaign but lost the Qualifier 2 to Sunrisers Hyderabad. They will begin their IPL 2025 season against the same opposition.
In the last few years, RR have shown glimpses of a good season but have been unable to continue their form for too long. They reached the final of IPL 2022 but lost to Gujarat Titans in the summit clash.
