In a shocking development ahead of the IPL 2025, several high-profile Gujarat Titans players like Shubman Gill, Rahul Tewatia, Sai Sudharsan, and Mohit Sharma are found to be involved in an INR 450 crore scam.

The news has come out as a shock ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League where these players are likely to play most of the games for their respective teams. While Gill is currently involved in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, other players are playing domestic cricket in India.

It is believed that BZ Group, a company based in Gujarat promised to pay the investors a higher rate of interest than banks. However, a lot of investors filed complaints against the company after they did not receive the promised rate of interest.

According to Ahmedabad Mirror, the investors had invested their money in the Ponzi scheme. Shubman Gill, Rahul Tewatia, Sai Sudharsan, and Mohit Sharma had also invested their money in the same scheme.

All these players will now be questioned by the Gujarat CID. Shubman Gill is currently in Australia playing for India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and will be questioned later by the CID in relation to this scheme.

One arrest already done

Meanwhile, CID has already arrested Bhupender Singh Jhala, the head of the BZ Group Scam at a farmhouse in the Mehsana district of Gujarat. During the investigation, Jhala revealed that he is yet to return the money invested by the aforementioned cricketers.

All these players were a part of Gujarat Titans in IPL 2024. However, the Titans retained only Shubman Gill, Rahul Tewatia, and Sai Sudharsan ahead of the IPL 2025 mega-auction. Gill is also the captain of the team.

While Gill, Tewatia, and Sai Sudharsan will be in action for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025, Mohit Sharma will be playing for Delhi Capitals. Mohit was signed for INR 2.2 crore by the Capitals in the IPL 2025 auction.

Shubman Gill's disappointing returns in BGT 2024-25

Shubman Gill has played just two Tests in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy so far. He played in the second and third Tests of the series played in Adelaide and Brisbane respectively. Gill had earlier missed the first Test due to the injury that he suffered during the nets session before this series.

The youngster was shockingly dropped for the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne as India opted for an allrounder in the form of Washington Sundar. Gill has scored just 60 runs so far at an average of 20.

The 25-year-old went into the series as India's designated No. 3 batter but has failed to score big runs so far. Gill's poor returns have raised questions about his ability to play on tougher batting conditions.

With one more match to go in the series, Gill looks likely to be back in the Playing XI. He will be aiming to get a big score under his belt. The fifth Test between Australia and India will be played in Sydney from January 3.
