The 58th game of the ongoing IPL 2025 in Dharamsala between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was called off due to a technical failure at the stadium. The match was taking place at the HPCA Stadium on Thursday (May 8).
The start of the game was delayed due to rain, but the game did not lose any overs. PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to bat first. His decision was completely justified as Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya gave the home side a flying start.
They added 122 runs for the first wicket in just 10 overs before Arya was dismissed by T Natarajan on the first ball of the 11th over. Immediately after that delivery, one of the light towers went off before the players were asked to leave the field. The fans were also asked to vacate the stadium before the BCCI stated that the game has been called off due to a technical failure.
"Due to a power outage in the area, one of the light towers at the HPCA stadium malfunctioned. BCCI regrets the inconvenience caused to the in-stadium attendees," an official statement said.

With their patriotic chants, the fans transformed a tense moment into one of patriotic unity amid the escalating tension between India and Pakistan.
