Virat Kohli Dedicated RCB's Maiden Title to Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers

Virat Kohli had dedicated RCB’s maiden IPL title to AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle. He expressed that the victory felt even more special with both legends present. Kohli said that they share an unwavering commitment and a deep connection with RCB fans.

“I promise you this feels 10 times more special because these two are standing next to me. Honestly, it is as much theirs as it is mine. When you come to Bengaluru, it is not just me; when they come, people love them and they go absolutely berserk," Virat had said.

“They know, and they appreciate that they have given their heart and soul to this team till the time they played here. These two guys have given their everything, so it is equally theirs, too," he added.

RCB's Historic Campaign That Led to Their Maiden IPL Title

Royal Challengers Bangalore ended their long wait for an IPL title with a memorable campaign in 2025. After years of near misses, the team played consistent cricket throughout the tournament to clinch their maiden championship.

RCB finished second in the league stage with nine wins and 19 points from 14 matches. They made history by becoming the only team to win all seven of their away fixtures in a single season.

The Bengaluru-based team outplayed Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the first qualifier with an eight-wicket win, securing a direct entry into the final. It was their fourth appearance in an IPL final after finishing runners-up in 2009, 2011, and 2016.

RCB held their nerve and secured victory in the summit clash by six runs. They ended an 18-year title drought and added a championship to their name.
