A massive ticket tampering allegation took the headlines involving the Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians (DC vs MI) IPL 2026 match on April 4. The allegations arose inside the DDCA (Delhi & District Cricket Association) amid the IPL 2026.

It was claimed that multiple premium category tickets, which could cost over INR 1 lakh, were sanctioned for some unauthorised people during the match. The matter is now being taken to the police station for investigation.

Ticket tampering rocked the Delhi cricket amid the ongoing IPL 2026 season

The ticket tempering allegations not only harmed the reputation of the regional cricket board but also raised serious safety concerns during the high-profile matches of the IPL 2026. According to a report by Dainik Jagran, two directors of the DDCA (Delhi and District Cricket Association) have accused their own association's employees of a ticket scam. A complaint regarding this has also been filed at the police station.

"Anand Verma, a director of the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA), has filed an official complaint with Delhi Police, calling it an organized criminal conspiracy", the report claims.

Original tickets were scanned in advance, and fake copies were created: Report

"When Verma arrived with his guests, they were stopped at the gate, which exposed the entire fraud. Verma stated that this is not just a case of ticket duplication but an organized racket involving some DDCA staff and security personnel. Original tickets were scanned in advance and fake copies were created, allowing multiple entries on a single ticket," it further stated.

It is now believed that those premium tickets were duplicated and later used by some unauthorised people. Who scanned or duplicated the tickets, which were sanctioned for using high-profile guests only during the match, scanned or duplicated through the wrong hands? The question remains.

Ticket tempering caused DDCA financial losses in IPL 2026

As the tickets cost over INR 1 lakh, and the number of tickets was one, which means that the Delhi cricket board lost lakhs of rupees because of a possible fraudulent act.

"An official response was sought from DDCA Secretary Ashok Sharma via phone and WhatsApp, but no reply was received. A similar incident reportedly occurred with the family of another DDCA director, Navdeep Malhotra, whose tickets were also found to be pre-scanned. He has also filed a formal complaint," the media report further stated.

This has reportedly caused financial losses worth lakhs of rupees and also poses a serious security threat. Unauthorized entry without proper verification could endanger players, VIP guests, and spectators. The effectiveness of the stadium’s security and surveillance systems has now come under scrutiny, according to the report.

On April 4, for the 8th match of the ongoing IPL 2026 season, Delhi Capitals were up against the Mumbai Indians. Chasing a competitive target of 163, the Capitals won the match by 6 wickets. Mumbai Indians captain Pandya missed the match because of illness, and Suryakumar Yadav was the stand-in captain of the team.
