It is still not confirmed whether IPL 2026 games will be hosted at RCB's home, Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, and the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) addressed the matter during an IPL Governing Council meeting and has reportedly set a deadline to take a final call.

Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will not play their home games in Bengaluru in IPL 2025 after a stampede incident last year. Rajasthan Royals (RR) will also change their home ground. Both franchises are finalizing their home grounds for the upcoming marquee T20 tournament.

BCCI Set January 27 Deadline for RR and RCB to Finalize IPL 2026 Home Venues

Rajasthan Royals must hold discussions with the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) and the state government. Royal Challengers Bengaluru also need to speak with the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and the state government to decide whether matches can be staged in Bengaluru.

The BCCI stated that matches in Jaipur and Bengaluru will go ahead only if all concerned bodies are in agreement. Ongoing internal issues within the RCA have so far prevented the Royals from convincing the BCCI about hosting games in Jaipur.

RCB Eye DY Patil Stadium for Five Home Matches

Royal Challengers Bengaluru want to play five of their home matches at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. However, IPL rules state that a team must obtain a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the local franchise when hosting matches in another team’s city, as it impacts ticket revenue.

RCB are not interested in hosting matches in Bengaluru due to a new law passed by the Karnataka government after last year’s incident. Under this law, match organizers will be held responsible if any incident occurs on the roads surrounding the venue during an event.

There are also safety and logistical concerns at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The area marked for fire brigade parking is currently being used for RCB’s music setup, where the DJ operates. The final decision now depends on RCB securing an NOC from Mumbai Indians.

IPL Schedule on Hold as Election Dates in Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Assam Awaited

The Indian Premier League schedule is yet to be released because of the election in key states. Elections are due to take place in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Assam during March and April this year, but the Election Commission of India has not confirmed the polling dates so far.

Because of this delay, the IPL authorities have paused the final schedule announcement. The complete fixture list will be made public only after the Election Commission officially declares the election timeline for these states.

IPL matches are expected to be held across several cities: Chennai, Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai (Wankhede), Kolkata, Ahmedabad, New Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Dharamshala, Visakhapatnam, Guwahati, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Navi Mumbai (DY Patil), and Thiruvananthapuram.
