The next players' auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) is likely to be held in India. For the past few years, players' auctions for the IPL seasons have been held in overseas venues.

For the IPL 2027 auction, the organisers can consider bringing the event back to India. The last time an IPL players' auction was organised in India was in 2023. Kochi was then the host city for the auction.

IPL 2027 players' auction could be held in India after three seasons

On September 16, Cricbuzz, in its latest report, reported on the possibilities of a returning IPL auction in India. After the 2023 auction in Kochi, the subsequent three auctions were held in Dubai, Jeddah and Abu Dhabi.

The upcoming auction, which will be a mini auction, is likely to be held in India, according to the latest media report, and the even again could head outside India for the 2028 players' auction, which will be a mega auction.
