The Delhi Police have arrested two individuals for an illegal betting operation in Narela during the IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Notably, the special staff from the Outer North District exposed a significant betting racket linked to the IPL 2025 season.

The Indian Premier League season kicked off with a match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Eden Gardens on March 22. Gujarat Titans (GT) are currently at the top of the table with eight points from five matches. SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) are at the bottom of the table.

Delhi Police Bust IPL Betting Racket in Narela During Ongoing Season

In a major move against betting during the ongoing Indian Premier League season, the Delhi Police busted an illegal gambling operation in Swatantra Nagar, Narela. According to the police, the racket was exposed during the IPL. Betting on IPL matches is prohibited under the Prevention of Gambling Act and the Telegraph Act.

The Delhi Police arrested two individuals involved in illegal betting during the Indian Premier League match between the Punjab Kings and the Chennai Super Kings. Notably, the suspects were caught red-handed, and authorities seized five mobile phones, an LED television, and notebooks containing detailed records of bets placed.

Accused Caught Red-Handed During PBKS vs CSK Match; Betting Equipment and Cash Seized

On April 8, the informant alerted the police around 6:00 PM about ongoing betting linked to the IPL match between the Punjab Kings and the Chennai Super Kings.

Following the lead, police conducted a raid at around 10:40 PM at a location near the Water Plant. During the operation, they caught two individuals — Rohit Kumar and Tejender Singh — red-handed while accepting live bets.

One suspect was seen recording handwritten transactions, while the other was managing a communication device known as a dabba phone, linked to multiple mobile phones.

Authorities recovered ₹20,000 in ₹500 notes, five smartphones with active SIM cards, a dabba device with a microphone, a diary containing betting records, and a Sony LED TV streaming the match via the "OM777" app.

Punjab Kings Secured an 18-Run Victory Over Chennai Super Kings

Punjab Kings secured an 18-run win over Chennai Super Kings at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur. Batting first, PBKS posted a competitive total of 219/6. Young opener Priyansh Arya scored 103 runs off just 42 deliveries, including seven fours and nine sixes.

Shashank Singh (52*) and Marco Jansen (34*) provided the finishing touches with an unbeaten 65-run stand for the seventh wicket.

In reply, CSK openers Rachin Ravindra (36) and Devon Conway (69) added 61 for the first wicket. However, Punjab removed Ravindra and Ruturaj Gaikwad in quick succession. MS Dhoni chipped in with a quickfire 27, but Conway was retired out after struggling to accelerate. CSK finished at 201/5 in 20 overs.
