IPL Auction 2024: Harry Brook Sends Warning Signal To Franchises Displaying Potential Skill Up His Sleeve

English batsman Harry Brook is known for his explosive batting and will once again be on the IPL 2024 auction table which is all set to take place on December 19 in Dubai. Brook played for the 2016 champions Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2023 and apart from slamming a hundred had a flop show throughout the tournament.

Harry Brook played a total of 11 matches in the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League and scored 190 runs at a strike rate of 123.38. Brook was picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad at a whopping price of INR 13.25 crore in the IPL 2023 auction, but he was not able to do justice with his price.

Brook was also included in England‘s 2023 ODI World Cup squad after the exclusion of Jason Roy, but the righty Englishman was not able to perform with the bat on the world stage as well. Harry Brook only scored 164 runs from six matches at an average of 28.16.

Though, apart from his brilliant batting skills, Brook has promised to show his bowling abilities in the 2023 ‘The Hundred’.

‘The Hundred’ is a 100-ball cricketing competition organized by ECB wherein Harry Brook is seen playing for the Northern Superchargers. Brook is currently part of the England squad, which is playing West Indies in the five-match T20I series.

Speaking to reporters Brook said, “It was jokey at the start but then I’ve actually started to get pretty good at it. So, I’m just trying to work on it and see what can happen. My aim is to try and bowl in the Hundred this summer and see what happens. The seamers are still there – for Test cricket in England on a green seamer then I might be needed, like we saw in the Ashes.”

“But I am trying to look towards the Hundred. I might not bowl, obviously, but it’s a little target I’ve got. And it’s actually coming out quite nicely, so we’ll see what happens,” Brook further added.

Can England defend the T20 World Cup title?

With the T20 World Cup all set to be held in the USA and West Indies in the year 2024, Harry Brook will be very crucial for England if they want to defend their title. England had a forgettable run in the 2023 ODI World Cup and the team finished in seventh place with three wins from nine games.

The Three Lions suffered five losses on the trot and had the poorest title defense of the ODI World Cup. However, the team consists of world-class players such as Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, and many more who can change the tone of the match at their own will. However, none of the players were able to perform in the 2023 ODI World Cup which was the major reason behind the team’s early exit from the tournament.

In the current scenario, West Indies won against England by 2-1 in the three-match ODI series whereas, the two-time T20 World champions currently lead the five-match T20I series by 2-1.
