Former South Africa National Cricket Team player Dale Steyn expressed his desire to coach Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025). He said that he always wanted to play with MS Dhoni and is keen to do that even now because he will learn from the best.
MS Dhoni no doubt has been a prominent figure in the World of cricket. The contribution that he has made to the game has been immense. The keeper-batter arguably is one of the best cricketing minds that the sport has ever seen, both at the international level and at the IPL level.

MS Dhoni has made Chennai Super Kings the most successful in the IPL
The amount of success MS Dhoni has had has been immense. He took India National Cricket to all the ICC trophies won under his leadership. Not only this, the keeper-batter also made Chennai Super Kings the most successful in the league as he guided the team to five titles.
One of the main reasons why MS Dhoni is rated highly is because of how he, along with himself, brings the best out of the other players of the team. He has played a massive role in shaping the careers of many players. He is also credited for giving the Indian team the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, and others.

Many players over the years have expressed their desire to play with Dhoni, and even now, the same is the case. Former South Africa player Dale Steyn, too, showed his admiration for the former Chennai Super Kings skipper.
Dale Steyn said that he always wanted to play for Chennai Super Kings and even was keen to take the pay cut and warm benches. He stated that even if he had an opportunity to play today as well he would make a comeback to play for the keeper-batter. Speaking on a podcast, he explained:
"I am a big admirer of MS Dhoni - I always wanted to be part of CSK. I was even willing to take a pay cut just to be in the CSK environment. I was ready to sit on CSK's bench if it meant being part of the team"
"I mean I wanted to play for a guy like MS Dhoni. I would even today if someone said to me you must make a comeback. I would probably get ready just to get into that so that it could make me a better better player."
I'd love to coach teams that can go on to win IPL's - Dale Steyn
Dale Steyn talked about his desire to coach the teams and he believes that working with MS Dhoni would help shape his career as well. He said that he wants to coach teams that can win IPL and World Cups and learning from Dhoni would be nice. He added:
"Understanding of the game and potentially to a better coach going in the future, because I would love now as I'm not a play anymore. I'd love to coach teams that can go on to win IPL's, World Cups, and all these other trophies and I think if you learn from the best who's done it the most in Dhoni that would have been quite nice."
