England National Cricket Team pacer James Anderson made a massive statement about his retirement. He said that if it was in his hand, he would've played for 50 years as he is still fit and was performing well for the team in the longest format of the game.

James Anderson arguably is one of the best fast bowlers who played Test cricket. The fast bowler ended his career this summer after the first Test of the series against the West Indies National Cricket Team. He was forced by the ECB, as well as the team management, to take the call, looking at the future of the team.

James Anderson ended his career as the greatest fast bowler for England

Anderson ended his career as the greatest fast bowler for the England National Cricket Team. He is the leading wicket-taker in the format in terms of fast bowler with over 700 wickets to his name and overall third-highest wicket-taker in the format.

However, even after announcing his retirement from international cricket, the hunger is still there in Anderson. The fast bowler has expressed his desire to play in the T20 leagues and has even registered for the auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

I want to play again - James Anderson on registering in IPL auction

Anderson has set himself the base price of Rs 1.25 crore. The fast bowler hasn't played in the league as of yet, and with the kind of swing that he has produced with the new ball, there are chances that he might fetch good bids in the IPL 2025 auction.

Anderson talked about his decision to enter the IPL auction, saying that his main motive is to play again. He believes that he is in good shape and still has more to offer in some shape or form. Speaking to Sky Sports, he explained:

"That's the whole point of going into auction. I want to play again. Whether I get picked or not is a different matter. But I have a feeling inside me that I have got more to offer in some shape or form. However, long down the line that might be.

"In whatever capacity, I am not sure yet. But I am very keen to play. I feel very fit; I have been bowling, still I feel like I am in a good place, so I would love to get the opportunity to play somewhere."

If it were in my hands, I would've continued playing till 50 - James Anderson

James Anderson also made a bold statement, saying that he wanted to play till 50, but he mentioned that the England team were looking at the future, and he was fine with it. He explained:

"Nothing yet. We'll just have to wait and see; keep my fingers crossed and see what happens. If it were in my hands, I would've continued playing till 50. I believe I am fit and performing well. England were looking at the future, which is perfectly fine".

Ever since James Anderson retired from international cricket, he has been part of the English setup. He has been mentoring the team in the red-ball cricket.
