English fast bowler Jofra Archer has reversed his decision to opt out of the highly anticipated IPL 2025 Mega Auction. Archer was absent from the list of 37 England players but has confirmed his participation in the event scheduled in Jeddah on November 24 and 25.

Archer recently recovered from a series of injuries. The 29-year-old pacer didn't register for the IPL 2025 Mega Auction to prioritize his preparations for the Ashes next year in Australia. However, this decision would ban him from participating in next year’s IPL mini auction as well, as per new rules.

Jofra Archer to Register for IPL 2025 Mega Auction: Report

According to reports, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) initially didn't grant No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) to fast bowlers Jofra Archer and Mark Wood to play in the IPL 2025 season. However, Archer later received an NOC to re-enter the pool for the highly anticipated IPL mega auction.

Archer expressed dissatisfaction after initially being denied the opportunity to participate in the IPL. Cricket broadcaster Matt Kabir Floyd revealed that negotiations involving the ECB, the BCCI, and player agents are ongoing to address the situation.

“Mark Wood and Jofra Archer were on the initial longlist for the auction but then weren’t on the shortlist and it turns out by the sounds of it that the ECB have denied them NOCs,” cricket broadcaster Matt Kabir Floyd said on the It’s Not Just Cricket. “I am hearing there are some negotiations going on right now between the BCCI, the ECB and the agents.”

Jofra Archer Bought by Mumbai Indians in Last IPL Mega Auction

Jofra Archer was bought by the Mumbai Indians (MI) for Rs 8 crore in the last mega auction. He didn't play in the first season due to injury. He played just four matches during the 2023 season before another elbow injury forced him to leave early. Archer will attract bidding wars despite his recent injury concerns.

Archer is set to join the pool of 574 players announced by the BCCI, featuring 366 Indians and 208 overseas players, including three from associate nations. The list includes 318 uncapped Indian players and 12 uncapped overseas players.

With over 35 England players available, Archer is among the high-profile names in the pool. A total of 204 slots are open, with 70 reserved for overseas players. The highest reserve price stands at Rs 2 crore, with 81 players opting for this top bracket.
