The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will aim to defend their title with a new management team and captain in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. There have been rumors surrounding their home ground, as the Kolkata Knight Riders could play their home games outside Eden Gardens in the IPL 2025.
As per reports, Eden Gardens is set to undergo renovation ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026. The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) wants to build two new dressing rooms opposite the Dr. BC Roy Club House and increase the stadium's capacity. The construction is expected to be finished by December 2025.
New Stadium Could Be Made Second Home Ground of Kolkata Knight Riders
According to a report by PTI, the under-construction stadium in Narsingarh, located on the outskirts of Agartala, Tripura, is being considered as a potential second home for the Kolkata Knight Riders.
According to Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) secretary Subrata Dey, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal indicated that this could happen if the stadium is completed by February 2025. Dhumal stated that if the project is finished on time, KKR or another team could use the stadium as a home ground.
"IPL chairman Arun Kumar Dhumal recently visited the proposed international stadium at Narsingarh on the outskirts of the state capital. He said if the stadium's is ready before February next year, it could be made second home ground of KKR or some else other state will get the benefit," he said.
"Since it is a golden chance to host IPL matches at the proposed stadium, we have summoned a reputed construction agency to expedite work and get it completed by February 2025. The TCA will review the construction work and if the agency fails to meet the deadline, we will terminate it and engage a new firm to complete the remaining work," he added.
Eden Gardens to Host KKR's Home Matches in IPL 2025 Season - Report
However, RevSportz reported that Kolkata Knight Riders will play all their home matches at Eden Gardens during the IPL 2025 season. The report added that the Cricket Association of Bengal has not decided the renovation date, but it is expected to begin after the upcoming IPL season next year.
"It is learnt that the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has sent a letter to the KKR management, confirming that the state association would be able to host the home fixtures of the defending IPL champions next season," reported RevSportz.

KKR players and coaching staff have expressed their deep connection with Eden Gardens. Former mentor Gautam Gambhir shot a farewell video at the stadium after being appointed as India's head coach. Winning captain Shreyas Iyer has also spoken about the positive atmosphere at Eden Gardens.
The IPL 2024 champions released Shreyas Iyer, Phil Salt, and Mitchell Starc ahead of the much-awaited IPL 2025 mega auction. However, the Knight Riders have retained six important players, including Rinku Singh, Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Harshit Rana, and Venkatesh Iyer.
