In what has been the latest development as per the reports in Sports Tak, it is learned that Shreyas Iyer demanded a huge price from Kolkata Knight Riders. However, the franchise couldn't shell out this much amount of money, and hence, he wasn't retained.
The reports claimed that Shreyas Iyer demanded INR 30 crore from the Kolkata Knight Riders. This led to the team management not wanting to keep him with the team. The two parties were involved in a lot of discussions, but they didn't reach the conclusion point.

He played a massive role for the team in the tournament, and under him, the team looked the most threatening in the tournament.
Shreyas joined Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for a price of INR 12.25 crore in the 2022 auction. Since then, he has been amongst the best batters for the team. Although he didn't have a great outing as the skipper in the debut season. Under him, the team was among the franchises that faced an early exit from the tournament.
In the next edition, Shreyas couldn't play due to a back injury. But made a dominating return in the last edition. Not only did they guide the team to the win, but they also batted positively. He slammed 351 runs from 14 games along with two half-centuries as well.
Overall Shreyas has played 115 games in the Indian Premier League. He has also captained Delhi Capitals in the league and took them to the final in 2020. The batter so far has mustered a total of 3127 runs at an average of 32.24 and a strike rate of 127.48.

With the kind of impact he has made in the league, it won't be a surprise, if he ends up getting a big deal in the auction, especially with teams keeping an eye on him.
Kolkata Knight Riders retain Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Harshit Rana and Ramandeep Singh
With Shreyas Iyer not being retained, Kolkata Knight Riders have kept 6 players in the team. Rinku Singh was the top retention for the team as he was retained at INR 13 crore. They also retained two uncapped players Harshit Rana and Ramandeep Singh for INR 4 crore.
Apart from that, Kolkata Knight Riders also retained Varun Chakaravarthy, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell. All three players have been retained at the price of INR 12 crore. It remains to be seen who will captain Kolkata Knight Riders going into the next edition of the league.
