IPL Auction 2025: Shubman Gill and Shahrukh Khan among 5 retentions finalized by Gujarat Titans

Gujarat Titans will be retaining 5 players ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction. As per the reports in PTI, it is learned that the Shubman Gill be the first pick for the franchise going into the next edition of the league.

The reports claimed that while Rashid Khan will be the second retention for the team, Sai Sudharsan also will be part of the team for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Apart from this, the 2022 IPL winners will keep two uncapped players with them as well.

It is learned that Gujarat Titans will also be retaining Rahul Tewatia and Shahrukh Khan. Although the retention slab for the players remains unclear, it is learned that the franchise is keen to retain 5 players ahead of the mega auction, which will take place in November later this year.

Shubman Gill likely to lead Gujarat Titans in IPL 2024

With Shubman Gill expected to be the first retention, he will likely continue captaining the team in the next edition. He was appointed as the captain of the team after Hardik Pandya, who was skipper of the team in 2022 and 2023, moved to his old franchise in Mumbai Indians.

Shubman Gill didn't have a great outing as the captain, as under him, the team failed to qualify for the final of the tournament for the first time. They finished in the bottom half of the points table and also struggled to win the games in the league stage.

But as a batter, Shubman Gill has been nothing short of exceptional for the team in the last three editions. The right-hander is the leading run-getter for the team, slamming 482 runs in IPL 2022, 890 runs in IPL 2023, and 426 runs in IPL 2024.

Rashid Khan has been the biggest match-winner for the Gujarat Titans

On the other hand, Rashid Khan arguably has been the biggest match-winner for the Gujarat Titans in the last three editions. The leg-spinner has been consistently performing for the team and has taken 56 wickets for them in 45 matches with the best figures of 4/24.

Sai Sudharsan, who is touted as one of the best youngsters in Indian cricket, has also been a key performer for the team. In the 25 games in the IPL, he has slammed 1034 runs at an average of 47 to go with 1 century and 6 fifties for the team in the last three editions.

Shahrukh Khan and Rahul Tewatia will be potential finishers for GT

Rahul Tewatia, who was picked up by the Gujarat Titans for INR 9 crore at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, has been key for the team as well. In the 93 games in the league, he has slammed 1013 runs for the team and also has taken 32 wickets in his career in the IPL.

Shahrukh Khan was acquired by the team last year. The hard-hitting batter played 7 games for the team last year, slamming 127 runs at a strike rate of over 170.
