Three Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises have shown interest in acquiring young batter Shubman Gill during the upcoming mega auction, as per reports. However, Gill has decided to stay with the Gujarat Titans (GT) for the upcoming season despite getting offers from the three IPL franchises.
The Gujarat Titans had a tough season in the 2024 IPL, as they failed to make the playoffs for the first time. Shubman Gill was appointed captain ahead of this year's tournament. However, the right-handed batter was a crucial player for the team despite not finding success as skipper in the IPL 2024 season.
Gill has consistently scored over 400 runs in each IPL season since 2020. He earned the Orange Cap in 2023, scoring 890 runs across 17 innings with an average of 59.33 and a strike rate of 157.80. As a key player for Gujarat Titans, he is expected to be retained and continue leading the team into future seasons

Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan Retained At Same Amount - Report
A sports journalist from Sports Tak confirmed that several IPL franchises, including RCB, LSG, and PBKS, showed interest in Shubman Gill for a leadership role. However, Gill decided to stay with the Ahmedabad-based team. Both Gill and Rashid Khan might be retained by GT at the same amount.
"At least 3 teams - RCB, LSG, PBKS - were interested in Shubman Gill to lead their respective teams but that won't happen anymore. Won’t be surprised if both Gill and Rashid are retained at the same amount, just as it happened the last time with Hardik and Rashid - 15cr each," Rahul Rawat wrote.

Mohammed Shami Not Included In Retention List For IPL 2025
Mohammed Shami, who was acquired by the Gujarat Titans for Rs 6.25 crore, had impressive performances in the IPL, taking 20 wickets in 2022 and 28 wickets in 2023. However, he missed the 2024 season due to injury. Shami recently stated that the decision to retain him is up to the franchise.
"I don't know anything about this. The decision lies firmly with the franchise. If they feel the need to retain me, then they will. Otherwise, they won't," Mohammed Shami had told SportsTak.
"I haven't had any word with them so far, but if they do give the option, then who would refuse them?" he added.
