Ireland are all set to lock horns with Bangladesh in a 3-match ODI series commencing from 9th May. Josh Little, the left-arm pacer will head back to England (*ODI Series is staged in England due to Ireland’s inclement weather) and leave Gujarat Titans (GT) for the assignment. Josh Little was supposed to play the entire IPL 2023 but Ireland want him to feature in the ODI series.

Ireland are placed in 11th position with 68 points in 21 matches in the World Super League points table. A series win for Ireland by 3-0 would assure them a direct qualification for ODI WC 2023 else South Africa would qualify for the marquee event. Astonishingly, Sri Lanka & West Indies have missed the direct qualification & are due to play the 2023 WC Qualifiers.

According to ESPNcricinfo, it is assumed that Josh Little will leave for the ODI series on 5th May and would miss the matches against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Mumbai Indians (MI) & Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). So far, Josh Little hasn’t had a productive IPL 2023 as he has taken 3 wickets in 4 matches with an economy of 9 runs per over.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has recalled Mustafizur Rahman (*playing for Delhi Capitals) & Litton Das (*Kolkata Knight Riders) from IPL 2023 and it is believed that they will miss 10 days of IPL 2023 action. Bangladesh have qualified for ODI WC 2023 and are placed in 4th position with 130 points.

All the 3 ODI matches are going to be played at Chelmsford, England. Ireland would back themselves to create some panic in Bangladesh’s camp as the conditions would be pace friendly. The role of Mark Adair & Craig Young would be quite pivotal.

Fascinating ODI Series on Cards

Bangladesh have the wood over Ireland as recently in March, they won the ODI series by 2-0. With less than 6 months remaining for the ODI WC 2023, the Bangladeshi Tigers would be aiming to find an ideal combination. Ireland on the other side have a golden chance to qualify for the ODI WC 2023. The skipper Andy Balbirnie will have to bat deep and take one game at a time.
