It Is An Open Threat Given To Wriddhiman Saha – Aakash Chopra Reacts To Wicket-keeper's Controversy

The cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra while reacting to senior wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha’s controversy has said that the unnamed journalist gave an “open threat” to the veteran wicket-keeper.

Wriddhiman Saha, who recently got dropped from the Indian Test team ahead of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, had posted a statement on his official Twitter handle claiming that he was threatened by a journalist after he refused to answer his call for an interview. Also, Saha posted a screenshot of the chat on Twitter.

“After all of my contributions to Indian cricket..this is what I face from a so-called “Respected” journalist! This is where the journalism has gone,” Saha tweeted.

Aakash Chopra, in a video shared on his official YouTube channel, said that the journalist was talking to Saha like a kidnapper. He asserted:

“This person is some journalist. Because Saha has not said who he/she is, I am not going to speculate. The rumor market is extremely hot, a lot of people have made their conjectures. Whoever the journalist is, you are talking like a kidnapper.”

Former Indian opening batsman also said that there was “so much entitlement and arrogance” in the messages which the unnamed journalist had sent to Saha.

“‘Choose the one who is going to help you’ – what clout you have that you are giving a threat and telling to choose him/her else face the consequences. ‘I will remember this’ – it is a threat. So much entitlement and arrogance. Where do you get this from?”

“‘This wasn’t something you should have done – this was the final nail in the coffin. It is an open threat given to Wriddhiman Saha here. It is my wish whom I talk to, who are you?”

Aakash Chopra further added that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will definitely investigate the matter and the veteran wicket-keeper will only tell the name of the journalist to the BCCI and if the name of the journalist comes out the entire cricket fraternity should boycott him. He elaborated:

“The BCCI is going to investigate who had threatened Saha. If the BCCI is investigating, Saha will not tell publicly but he will tell the BCCI.

“This name will come out, not in public, but it will come out in the investigation. The entire cricket fraternity should boycott this guy who has gone ahead and threatened a cricketer.”
