"It's Almost Like A War" - Shan Masood Explains How They Will Tackle Sledging

Pakistan Test skipper Shan Masood opened up about how they will tackle sledging from Australian players. The two teams are slated to lock in with each other in the three-match Test series, starting 14th December in Perth.

Shan Masood, who was recently appointed as the Test skipper of Pakistan, will be facing his biggest challenge in his very first assignment. Pakistan have always struggled in Australia and this time it’ll be another difficult challenge ahead of them.

Apart from the fiery conditions they will be facing the threat of players as well. The Australian players are absolute beasts in their home and apart from that Pakistan will also have to face the sledging from them. The Australians don’t go easy on anyone and it is expected that it’ll be the same this time around.

Shan Masood said that they won’t be looking much into those things but taking the field is like war and they will be up for everything. He added that he has passed messages to his players to carry on with whatever makes them comfortable. Speaking to Cricket Pakistan, he stated:

“See, we do not look at these things specifically because we know all players represent their country and play with passion on the field. It’s almost like a war, so it can be a part of the tactics, and the main objective is to distract the batter or the bowler. Players – past and present have all come across it, and we all know how to handle it responsibly. The message is to carry on with whatever makes one comfortable.”

AUS vs PAK: The support of fans matters a lot – Shan Masood

Shan Masood further highlighted the importance of fans, saying that it’s important for them that fans back them. He explained:

“The support of fans matters a lot, I remember how passionate the Pakistani fans were during the T20 World Cup last year. Be it Sydney or Melbourne, we received a lot of support. It is very important for us to have them back us, and it will be nice if they can all come together and neutralize the home crowd.”

The first Test match between Pakistan and Australia will be played in Perth from 14th December. The focus will then shift towards the second match, to be played from 27th December in Melbourne. The final match will happen in Sydney from 3rd January.
