India will host the upcoming ICC Men’s World Cup the following year. Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer wants India to increase the number of all-rounders before the major event.
He stated that the team would require a few all-rounders who are in good physical shape. And for that, he wants players like Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja to be in top physical condition.
India will host the 2023 edition of the ICC Men’s World Cup. The Men in Blue will try to break their 12-year comeback and take the championship home. India was the first side to win the ICC Men’s World Cup final on home soil in 2011, and since then, England and Australia have followed suit. The Indian squad hopes to continue the tradition and win their third World Cup championship at the 2023 tournament.
The team will be very motivated to win the trophy because the 2023 competition would be held fully in India. The athletes must perform at their highest level for India to win the grand prize.
‘It’s great if we have two allrounders’: Wasim Jaffer
Wasim Jaffer asserts that India’s victory in the 2011 edition was significantly influenced by the availability of a variety of bowling options and that they may require the same assistance in the forthcoming competition.
“Before the 2023 World Cup, I believe that India should focus on finding an all-rounder. For Hardik Pandya to be able to bowl, I think it is crucial. It will be very balanced for him to have Ravindra Jadeja with him.”
“Having two all-around players is fantastic. 2011 World Cup gave us a lot of alternatives. With the ball, Suresh Raina and Virender Sehwag were able to contribute. In addition to his outstanding batting performances, Yuvraj Singh, in particular, made significant bowling contributions “Wasim Jaffer stated in a CricTracker interview.
The next ODI World Cup will be held in India in October and November of 2023.
