"It's No Surprise..."- Venkatesh Prasad Takes A Dig At Shakib Al Hasan

Former India fast-bowler Venkatesh Prasad has taken a dig at Shakib Al Hasan for his decision to appeal for Angelo Mathews??? wicket during the game between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka on Tuesday (November 6).
The bitter rivals locked horns against each other in the crucial World Cup clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. With a place in the Champions Trophy at stake, both teams were desperate to win the contest. In the end, Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka to end their six-match losing streak and register their second victory in the ongoing competition.
The win, however, was marred by Mathews??? controversial dismissal. While Shakib Al Hasan led his team from the very front and impressed with both bat and ball, he is facing severe criticism for his appeal. With Mathews failing to take guard in sufficient time after walking to the crease, the Bangladesh captain appealed and the Sri Lanka allrounder was adjudged timed out.
Venkatesh Prasad slams Shakib Al Hasan:
While Mathews arrived at the time on time, he was not ready to face the first ball due to a broken strap in his helmet. According to the rules, the new batter should be ready to face his first ball within two minutes of the last dismissal. And as Mathews waited for his teammate to bring him a new helmet, Shakib Al Hasan appealed and he had to walk off the field.
While the dismissal is well within the rules of the game, it is widely considered against the spirit of the game. Unsurprisingly, Shakib Al Hasan is facing severe criticism for his actions and Venkatesh Prasad has also taken shots at him. The former cricketer took to X to state that he was not surprised by the Bangladesh ace???s action because of his past disciplinary records, writing:
???Purely on cricketing talent , Shakib Al Hasan would have been considered as one of the greats of the game. But be it being banned after the 2019 World Cup for failing to report approach, intimidating umpires, considering himself bigger than the game, it???s no surprise what he did yesterday.???
