IPL is the most powerful aspect of the game now: Michael Vaughan
The addition of two new teams will see IPL 2022 participation of 10 teams that will be the second time since IPL 2011.
Looking at the prices the two new franchises were sold in the bidding, Vaughan called the cash-rich league as the most powerful aspect of the game.
“With the 2 new franchises going for huge numbers, it’s now very clear the IPL is the most powerful aspect of the game now… It’s inevitable that we will see more games & longer tournaments. #IPL,” Vaughan tweeted.
All the money goes back to the Indian cricket: Sourav Ganguly
BCCI president Sourav Ganguly said that he wasn’t surprised at getting a whopping bid for the two new IPL teams.
The former Indian skipper also mentioned that the entire amount they bagged from the two teams will be used to prosper Indian cricket.
“We were not surprised actually, this (IPL) is a big brand, and we are extremely happy that Indian cricket is moving growing forward. That is what is important for us. Congratulations to Sanjeev (Goenka) and CVC for being number one and number two, but we look at Indian cricket, and that’s what our job is. The more Indian cricket prospers, the better it is,” Ganguly said in a virtual press conference.
All the money goes back to the Indian cricket. That’s what we are here for. We want Indian cricket to go forward, and it has gone a long way forward in the few years. This is the 14th season of IPL, and the brand has grown, and I think it is a great sign for us,” the BCCI President added.
IPL 2022 will also see a mega auction coming very soon, with most players going under the hammer.
