Virat Kohli Dismisses Sourav Ganguly's Statement That He Had Requested Virat To Not Step Down As The T20 Captain

Previously, Kohli decided to step down from the T20I captaincy to manage his workload and the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly had told that he personally requested Kohli not to quit the T20I captaincy but he didn’t agree and the selectors didn’t want to have 2 white-ball captains that’s why Kohli was removed from ODI captaincy and Rohit Sharma was given the entire white-ball leadership responsibility.

However, Kohli told that he was never asked to reconsider his T20I captaincy relinquishing decision and it was received very well by the BCCI.

Speaking on his YouTube channel Deep Dasgupta said that “split captaincy is fair” and it was bound to happen after Kohli quit T20I captaincy.

Little disappointed with the events that have transpired off the field. I’ve been quite disappointed as an Indian cricket fan over the last week or so. To be fair, in my opinion, split captaincy is fair. It was going to happen sooner or later. I agree with it, no two ways about it,” he said.

Former cricketer Deep Dasgupta further added that the captaincy issue could have been handled in a better manner and there is some miscommunication between Kohli and the BCCI.

“The manner with which it happened is debatable. I think it could have been handled a little better. The problem is this, there has been excess of he said, he said, going on and that is not good and it does not help anyone.

“I think there is some miscommunication between the parties. The real and the full truth lies somewhere in between,” he asserted.
