I’ve Played Under A Lot Of Captains, Shadab Khan Is Up There As One Of The Best Captains: Colin Munro

Islamabad United opener Colin Munro might have been a tad inconsistent in the international arena; however, he is a giant in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Colin Munro, who has also played for the Karachi Kings, enjoyed a terrific run with Islamabad United in 2020, smashing 248 runs in eight matches, keeping a strike rate of 147.61. Munro, who will have to play a defining role for the franchise, if they are to capture their third title, heaped rich praises on captain Shadab Khan.

Shadab Khan has been captaining Islamabad United since the 2020 edition and has a decent record as captain. The spin-bowling all-rounder has led the franchise to eight wins and as many losses. However, while as a player, Khan excelled, scoring 263 runs in nine games by keeping a strike rate of 159.39 and took eight wickets, the team finished last in 2020. Hence the youngster, who is yet to impress with the bat or ball in this year’s tournament, has a chance to do so when PSL 2021 resumes soon.

Meanwhile, Colin Munro claimed that having played under several captains, he feels that Shadab Khan is one of the good ones. The southpaw said that the spin-bowling all-rounder remains calm even in the face of a high-voltage situation. Munro stated that Khan always keeps talking to the bowlers to induce calmness.

“I’ve played under a lot of captains, Shadab is up there as one of the best captains. He’s a young captain, but he’s really calm and that’s what I enjoy about him. The calm he brings to the group, when we’re out on the field. T20 is a hustle bustle format, very in your face, but he keeps you calm. You can see the way he talks to the bowlers and keeps them calm,” Munro told Sportskeeda.

Colin Munro revealed that Shadab Khan keeps talking about cricket even off the field and believes he has excellent knowledge for a youngster. The New Zealand opener also backed him to be a leader in Pakistan’s ranks and conceded that having played a lot of cricket with him, Munro feels it’s refreshing for a young leader to step up and give tips to the guys coming through.

“Even off the field, talking about cricket, he’s got a lot of knowledge for a young guy. He’s a great skipper, one of the guys to look out for as a leader within Pakistan too. I’ve played a lot of cricket with him, it’s good to see him stepping up as a leader at such a young age and giving powerful tips to the guys coming through,” he added.
