"Mustafizur Rahman is back in 💙❤️ after two years! He replaces Jake Fraser-McGurk who is unavailable for the rest of the season," DC wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).

During last year's mega auction, Delhi Capitals secured Australia's top-order batter for a whopping ₹9 crore. However, the Australian international struggled to meet expectations in the current season, scoring just 55 runs in six matches at a strike rate of 105.76. He was dropped from the playing XI.

Mustafizur Rahman to Join Delhi Capitals for INR 6 Crore

Delhi Capitals have brought in Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman as a replacement for Jake Fraser-McGurk. The Indian Premier League confirmed the update on its official website, adding that Mustafizur was signed for ₹6 crore for the rest of the tournament.

"Delhi Capitals (DC) have signed Mustafizur Rahman as Jake Fraser-McGurk has opted to leave from the remainder of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 due to personal reasons. The left-arm medium pacer will join DC for INR 6 Crore," the IPL statement read.

Mustafizur Rahman has played 57 matches in the IPL and taken 61 wickets at an economy of 8.14. The 29-year-old left-arm pacer was part of Chennai Super Kings in the previous season, where he impressed with 14 wickets in nine games.

He had previously played for the Delhi-based franchise in the 2022 and 2023 editions. Mustafizur has played 106 T20Is for Bangladesh, claiming 132 wickets.

Delhi Capitals Remain in Contention for IPL 2025 Playoffs

Delhi Capitals are still in the race for the IPL 2025 playoffs. The squad is waiting for confirmations about Mitchell Starc, Faf du Plessis, and Tristan Stubbs. Starc may skip the remainder of the season due to the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final against South Africa, starting on June 11 in London.

Stubbs is also part of South Africa’s WTC squad, and Cricket South Africa (CSA) is expected to call him back after May 25. However, Sri Lanka's Dushmantha Chameera, who has played in recent matches, will be available until June 3, and Afghanistan’s Sediqullah Atal is also expected to join the squad.

Delhi Capitals are in 5th place with 13 points after 11 matches, with three more league-stage games against Gujarat, Mumbai, and Punjab. They will be hoping to secure wins in the upcoming games to reach the playoffs.
