South Australia batter Jake Fraser-McGurk broke the massive record of South African batter AB de Villiers in the List-A Cricket. The Australian domestic cricketer registered the fastest century in the 50-over cricket and entered the record books.

Jake Fraser-McGurk achieved the feat in the domestic one-day match between South Australia and Tasmania on Sunday (8th October). The batter smashed a ton in just 29 deliveries but his efforts went in vain as his side lost the game by the margin of 37 runs.

South Australia were set a target of 436 runs to chase. Jake Fraser-McGurk took his team off the flier as he first registered fastest ever half-century in the Marsh Cup.

He achieved the feat in 18 balls and then after that took just 11 balls to reach his ton. He ended with the knock of 125 runs in just 38 balls and also smashed 10 fours and 13 sixes in his innings.

As he reached his ton in 29 balls, he surpassed AB de Villiers’ record. The former South African cricketer created history in 2015 when he set the new record of smashing the fastest ton in ODI cricket.

The Proteas cricketer surpassed Corey Anderson’s 36-ball hundred record and achieved the feat in just 31 balls. It came against West Indies and he ended with the knock of 149 off 44 deliveries.

Seemed like everything went my way – Jake Fraser-McGurk on his fastest List-A Century

Jake Fraser-McGurk talked about his knock and admitted that he came out with intent. He was also asked if he had ever played like this before, replying to that, he added that he has played like this in video games. He explained:

“I went out there with some good intent, had my plans and process, and seemed like everything went my way. I’ve made a few 30s playing in twos [2nd XI] and stuff, felt like I’ve been hitting them reasonably well but probably not that well so definitely surprised myself. Maybe a video game or something. Definitely not in real life, that’s for sure,” he concluded.

Tasmania captain Jordan Silk also was in awe of Jake Fraser-McGurk’s innings. He hailed him for his clean striking and admitted that as an opposition it was frustrating to watch. He explained:

“It’s probably an innings I’ll never see maybe ever again. It was some of the cleanest ball-striking I’ve seen and sometimes you’ve just got to tip your cap to players like that that can do that. Whilst it was frustrating to watch it was also amazing to watch,” he concluded.
