India and England are currently taking on each other in a 5-match Test series. Three of the five games have been played, with the first Test at Headingley, followed by the second at Edgbaston and the third at Lord's.

This is the first edition of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy; just before the onset of this series, the trophy was inaugurated by the two greats from India and England. The series has been a highly entertaining contest, with the two teams not willing to budge an inch for the other.

India has so far won one match in the series, though they have scored the highest amount of runs, while England has won two matches in the series, since they have ticked most of the boxes rather than ticking multiple times on the same box.

James Anderson holds high regard for Sachin Tendulkar

Former English pacer James Anderson said recently that he felt out of place sharing his name with the Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar for the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy. The 42-year-old paceman James Anderson holds Tendulkar in high regard and also admitted that he finds it difficult to believe when others speak about his rather unmatchable record for England.

"I feel completely out of place when I see myself alongside him with the trophy. As I said, I hold him in such high regard," James Anderson said on Sky Sports.

"It is strange that when people talk about what I have achieved in cricket, like when I hear about it as if someone's talking about someone else, if that makes sense, like I don't feel it is me who has achieved all this."

"It sounds really strange, but that is how my head works. I just can't quite believe the things that come with playing for such a long time," added James Anderson.

The Pataudi Trophy was renamed as the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy

Before the unveiling of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in 2025, India and England were involved in a series known as the Pataudi Trophy, a red-ball series. The Test series, which is played in India between the two nations, is known as the Anthony de Mello Trophy.

A day before the onset of the Test series between India and England, both the legends James Anderson and Sachin Tendulkar were present in London for the unveiling of the trophy named after them. The retired pacer said that this was a very proud moment for him and his family.

"It’s a proud moment for me and my family to have this iconic series named after Sachin and myself. The rivalry between our two nations has always been something special, full of history, intensity and unforgettable moments," Anderson said.

England are leading the series 2-1

England are leading the series by a 2-1 margin after they won the Lord's Test, which ended with so much thrill and anticipation. The match was a low-scoring thriller that ended in England's favour after the seamers put on a stunning performance.

The fourth Test has now turned out to be a series decider for India, as losing this Test would end their hopes in the series. Notably, the fourth Test will be played at Old Trafford in Manchester from the 23rd to the 27th of July.
