Former Australia fast-bowler Jason Gillespie has approached the International Cricket Council (ICC) to settle a financial dispute with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The PCB had roped in the former cricketer in April last year as the head coach of the Test team on a two-year deal.
However, he decided to step down from his post in December last year and was replaced by Aaqib Javed.
Gillespie and PCB in a war of words
Jason Gillespie suffered a shock loss in his first series in charge against Bangladesh. He was later removed from Pakistan's selection panel as well after the team suffered a heavy loss against England in the first Test of the three-match series. However, Pakistan bounced back and won the series 2-1.
Later, he also took charge of Pakistan's white-ball tour to Australia in Gary Kirsten's absence. Under him, Pakistan won a memorable ODI series in Australia but lost the T20I series.

Jason Gillespie approaches the ICC:
While Jason Gillespie and PCB parted ways last year, they have become embroiled in a financial dispute. According to a report in ESPNcricinfo, the Australian great has accused the PCB of several breaches of his contract. In response, the PCB has accused the former Pakistan coach of not providing the board with a four-month notice period, as stipulated in his contract.
The report further stated that Jason Gillespie asked PCB to settle outstanding payments owed to him. The payments included bonuses promised to him for guiding Pakistan to a Test series win over England and the ODI series win over Australia.
With PCB not clearing the payment, Jason Gillespie has referred the matter to the ICC. However, it is still unclear whether the ICC has the power to interfere in the matter.
Pakistan Cricket Board denies Gilliespie's claims
On the other hand, the PCB recently made its stance clear on the issue. Earlier this week, the PCB hit back at Gillespie and refuted his claims by saying that he left his position abruptly without serving the notice period.
"The Pakistan Cricket Board refutes claims made by a former head coach on the non-payment of his dues. The PCB spokesman states that the former head coach abruptly left his position without giving a four-month notice period, which was a clear breach of the contractual terms."
"The coaching contract explicitly mentioned a notice period applicable to both parties, and the coach was fully aware of it," the statement by PCB read.
