Former Pakistan National Cricket Team red-ball coach Jason Gillespie has made a massive revelation about the things in Pakistan cricket. He said that the decision to drop Babar Azam from the England series was made by a new selection committee and not him.

In what was a shocking move, Babar Azam was dropped from the Pakistan Test squad in the middle of the Test series against the England National Cricket Team. The series between the two teams took place in October earlier this year and it saw hosts winning the series.

Pakistan won Test series against England under Jason Gillespie

Under Jason Gillespie, the Pakistan National Cricket Team had a great time in the series as they won the Test series at home after more than three years. While the series had its own moments, it also had a few massive decisions being taken by PCB.

After the first Test of the series, in which the Pakistan National Cricket Team lost by the margin of innings of 47 runs, Babar Azam, along with Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah, were dropped from the team. This came after their poor performances in the longest format of the game.

Babar Azam was dropped after his consistent failures in Tests

Babar, in particular, was under a lot of scanner, and for his poor outings, and he paid the price. The premier batter, who hasn't hit a fifty in Tests since 2022, was replaced by Kamran Ghulam, who hit a magnificent ton after replacing Babar and helped his team win the game.

It was then mentioned by the Pakistan Cricket Board that Babar has been rested and not dropped. However, several reports in the media claimed that the batter was dropped from the team after his poor returns with the bat for more than two years.

There was no communication with me about dropping him - Jason Gillespie on Babar Azam getting dropped from England Tests

But Jason Gillespie, who was head coach of the team at that time, has revealed that the new selection committee dropped the batter, and they didn't communicate with him at all. He also lauded the batter and added that he was the best he worked with. Speaking to ABC Sport, he explained:

"Babar Azam was dropped from the Test squad for the England series. There was no communication with me about dropping him. The decision to drop was made by the new Selection Committee. Babar works so hard, he's an elite player, he's very fit, he trains very hard, he's fantastic and one of the best I worked with."

Babar Azam has now been named in the Pakistan squad for the two-match Test series against South Africa National Cricket Team. The series will be a great opportunity for him to reclaim his place in the team again and reply to all critics in style. The series gets underway on 26th December.
