Former India National Cricket Team pacer Balwinder Sandhu lashed out at Jasprit Bumrah for getting injured due to the workload issue in the last match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He said that it is all bull****, and it is a term created by the Australians.

India National Cricket Team's diamond, Jasprit Bumrah, gave his all in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The fast bowler made sure that he left no stone unturned as he had the best series by an Indian fast bowler in the Australian conditions.

Jasprit Bumrah bowled 151.2 overs in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25

Jasprit Bumrah bowled 151.2 overs in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 and also picked 32 wickets in the series. He was the leading wicket-taker in the five-match series, but in an attempt to make the India National Cricket Team win, the fast bowler got injured.

The toll of bowling over 150 overs clearly got reflected as the fast bowler was injured in the last match of the series. Jasprit Bumrah bowled just 10 overs in the first innings and then went for scans after he experienced back spasm and then didn't return in the second innings.

'Workload management is bull****"- Balwinder Sandhu attacks Jasprit Bumrah

Balwinder Sandhu went hard at Jasprit Bumrah, saying that bowling 150 overs wasn't a big deal. He pointed out that the fast bowler didn't bowl 15-over spells, adding that he doesn't believe in workload things as he came from an era where bowlers only listened to their bodies. Speaking to the Times of India, he explained:

"Workload? How many overs did he bowl? 150-something, right? But in how many matches or innings? Five matches or nine innings, correct? That comes down to 16 overs per innings or 30 overs per match. And he didn’t bowl those 15-plus overs in one go. He bowled in spells. So, is it a big deal?

"Workload management is bull****. These are Australian terms, created by Australians. Workload management is nothing. I don’t agree with this. I come from an era when cricketers used to listen to their bodies and no one else. I don’t agree with this at all."

If a bowler can’t bowl 20 overs in an innings, he should forget about playing for India - Balwinder Sandhu on Jasprit Bumrah

Balwinder Sandhu added that bowling 15 overs in a day is not a big deal for a bowler. He, while lashing out at Jasprit Bumrah, said that if a pacer can't bowl 20 overs in an innings, he should forget about playing for India.

He added that if Bumrah can't bowl 20 overs in a day, he should play just T20Is. He cited the example of Kapil Dev, saying that the former India National Cricket Team skipper bowled long spells throughout his career. He added:

"Bowling 15 overs in a day, and that too in different spells, is not a big deal for a bowler. You’re not bowling on all five days of a Test match. He took three or four spells to bowl those overs. Today, you have the best physios, the best masseurs, and excellent doctors to take care of your body. If a bowler can’t bowl 20 overs in an innings, he should forget about playing for India.

"If you want to represent India, you should have the strength to bowl at least 20 overs in an innings. If you can’t, then it’s better to go back and play T20s, where you only need to bowl four overs. Even those four overs are bowled in three spells. We used to bowl 25–30 overs in a day. Kapil (Dev) has bowled long spells throughout his career. Your body and muscles get conditioned when you bowl, bowl, and bowl. So, I don’t agree with this workload management concept."
