India's fast bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is not a part of India's squad for the ongoing Champions Trophy. Bumrah was ruled out of the tournament due to an injury that he suffered during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.

Bumrah's wife and sports presenter Sanjana Ganesan has finally provided an update on the fast bowler's fitness. Sanjana gave the important information during a conversation with the allrounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz ahead of the India-Bangladesh match in the Champions Trophy.

Bumrah left for the NCA before the ODI series against England at home in an attempt to be fully fit before the Champions Trophy. However, the team management decided against risking India's premier cricketer and want him fit for the upcoming tournaments.

"We are very happy" - Mehidy Hasan Miraz on Jasprit Bumrah's absence

In the same video, Mehidy Hasan Miraz was all praises for Jasprit Bumrah and joked that the opposition is happy that he is not playing in the tournament. He even opened up about his dismal record in front of Bumrah and spoke about his skills.

“He (Bumrah) is a very different bowler and very dangerous, uff! He is not coming here. We are very happy! He is very dangerous. Everybody respects him. Every better. I got out against him two times. He has improved a lot. He bowls both ways,” Miraz said.

Bumrah has emerged to be the best bowler across formats in the world in the last few years. The fast bowler has developed exceptional skills and is a potent weapon across all the formats. His unusual action combined with high-class pace bowling makes him such a dangerous bowler to deal with.

How did Jasprit Bumrah get injured?

Jasprit Bumrah suffered back spasms during the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. He was ruled out of the remaining match which even cost India the game. Later, it was revealed that the fast bowler had a lower back injury and required some more time to be back on the field.

Due to his stellar performances, Bumrah was chosen the ICC Cricketer of the Year and ICC Test Cricketer of the Year in 2024. In a rather disappointing Test series in Australia, Bumrah was India's lone shining light as he emerged as the highest wicket-taker of the series.

The fast bowler also played a vital role in India's T20 World Cup 2024 triumph with 15 wickets in 8 matches at an average of 8.26 and an economy rate of 4.17.

After the match against Bangladesh, India will face Pakistan on February 23. The Men in Blue will round off their campaign with a match against New Zealand on March 2.
